There are a variety of minstries that cook to help feed our neighbors.
SHORT-TERM: This ministry provides short-term home delivered meals for parishioners who are experiencing issues such as acute illness, recent hospitalization, death of a loved one, birth or adoption of a new baby, etc. Participation is on an "as needed" basis. If you know of someone in need or would like to volunteer, please contact Maura Barrett by phone or email.
SENIOR OUTREACH MEAL MINISTRY: Three times a year parishioners from St.Thomas assist the Senior Services Outreach Program of the Town of Bethlehem by providing a hot luncheon for approximately 30 homebound elderly who are brought to a community meeting room of a local church for this meal. MERCY HOUSE MEALS: Mercy House is a temporary residence for abused and homeless women run by the Diocese of Albany. Volunteers from St. Thomas work in teams to prepare and deliver meals to Mercy House. Four times a year each team of 6-7 members prepares the meal and the team leader delivers the meal to Mercy House.For further information please contact Judi Doody at 518-439-9172, or email at [email protected]
ST JOHN'S/ST ANN'S WELCOME TABLE: St Thomas volunteers make (and if you like serve) lunch at the Welcome Table at St.John’s/St.Ann’s Outreach Center three times a year generally in June, July and August. St.John’s/St. Ann’s is located in the South End of Albany. (There is also the opportunity to cook at other times as needed by the Welcome Table.) Recipes are provided for the main meal, and baked goods are welcome (simple finger food desserts, such as cookies or bars)If you are interested in assisting with one, two or all three of these meals, please contact Tom Miller at 210-2225.
