The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA), formerly known as RCIA, is a journey of faith for those interested in becoming Catholic. It is a process of conversion and learning, designed to welcome individuals into full communion with the Catholic Church. Participants experience a series of spiritual milestones, including catechesis (instruction in the faith), personal reflection, and participation in liturgical rites. Through this journey, individuals learn about the teachings, sacraments, and traditions of the Church, gradually deepening their relationship with God and the Catholic community. The OCIA journey typically culminates with the reception of the Sacraments of Initiation—Baptism (if not already baptized), Confirmation, and the Eucharist—at the Easter Vigil
The OCIA journey is open to anyone who feels called to explore the Catholic faith. Whether you are unbaptized, baptized in another Christian denomination, or even baptized Catholic but have not received the other sacraments of initiation, this journey is for you. We welcome individuals from all walks of life, backgrounds, and experiences who have a sincere desire to deepen their faith and join the Catholic Church. No matter where you are on your spiritual journey, you are invited to take part in this process of discovery and transformation, with the support of our parish community.
The OCIA program thrives when parishioners like you get involved in supporting and guiding others on their faith journey. If you have a heart for evangelization and a desire to help others grow in their relationship with Christ, consider joining our OCIA team as a sponsor, catechist, or prayer partner. Sponsors walk alongside participants as mentors and friends, offering encouragement and sharing their own faith experiences. Catechists help teach and explain the teachings of the Church, while prayer partners offer spiritual support behind the scenes. Together, we can help welcome new members into our faith community and accompany them as they discover the joy of life in Christ.
